Adopt-a-Family or Child for the 2021 Holidays
You can help children experience the joy of the holiday through Savio’s adopt-a-family holiday program. Adopt-a-family donors provide gifts to families who may not otherwise receive any. These children often have unstable backgrounds and miss the essential experiences of childhood. Your support is an essential part of their healing.
Your support can help unify a family facing substance abuse, domestic violence or relationship issues within the family. Your generosity helps them connect and celebrate the holiday season together.
At this point in time, almost all of Savio’s families requesting holiday gifts have been adopted. This speaks to our community’s generosity and we are incredibly grateful and amazed. However, there is still a way you can help families this holiday season.
Every year we receive requests for support covering emergency costs that come up around the holiday season, these are typically items that are too large for one supporter to cover. While these items may not seem like traditional holiday presents, they can give the family an opportunity to focus on each other instead of worrying about money.
For example, we have a family whose dryer just broke and they cannot afford to fix it or replace it. As a family of five, they are hoping to not spend the holiday season running back and forth to the laundry mat constantly. Another family requested new door frames, as theirs were broken in. They just want to feel safe this holiday season.
For these families, we are collecting monetary donations for our “Family Needs Fund”. We will pool all donations made and meet as many requests as possible.
Savio’s holiday program is anonymous. Donors and families do not meet.
This program is only available to families enrolled in Savio’s services.
We begin collecting family wish lists in early November and run the program through mid-December.
