When Savio has a family in need, an email will go out with the item requested. Typically they may need a mattress, crib, pack ‘n play, or dresser.

Leslie and Lex have been working hard to regain custody of their children. They have been doing all that they can to strengthen their parenting skills, improve their relationship with their children during supervised visitation, and take steps to provide a safe and loving home for their children once they are reunited.
The next step was for the family to start supervised visitation in the family home. All that they needed to get approved to do this was a Pack ‘n Play, to help ensure their baby would have a safe place to sleep. Unfortunately, the family lives paycheck to paycheck, and it would be a while before they could afford one, which would delay when they could start supervised visitation.
So that is when we reached out to community members like you. Heather started combing through Facebook Marketplace to see if she could find anyone who would be willing to donate their gently used Pack ‘n Play. She found a couple that had seen better days and kept looking. Eventually, she found one that had barely been used and would be perfect for this family. She picked it up and delivered it to Savio so that the family’s social worker could drop it off to the family during their next visit.
Thanks to Heather, this family will be starting in-home visitation next week. They are one step closer to having their children move home.
Financial challenges and something as small as being able to afford a Pack ‘n Play can be barriers for system-involved families. You can help them break down these barriers by joining our action team today.
